Aston Villa are reportedly eyeing a move for promising young right-back, Andres Garcia, currently with Levante UD, as they seek to bolster their squad ahead of the forthcoming winter transfer window. According to The Hard Tackle, the 21-year-old defender has caught the attention of the West Midlands club, who are actively exploring options to strengthen their defensive line.
Garcia, a native of Valencia, has made significant strides since joining Levante in July 2021. After progressing through the youth ranks, he made his first-team debut in January 2023 and has quickly established himself as a key player for the second-tier side. Over the past two years, he has accumulated nearly 2,000 minutes of playing time, featuring in 23 matches across various competitions, during which he has contributed three goals and three assists.
The young Spaniard's impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, attracting interest from several prominent clubs across Europe. Aston Villa and Sporting CP are reportedly in a competitive race to secure his signature, with Garcia's contract containing a release clause set at £12 million.
Aston Villa's pursuit of Garcia aligns with their current squad requirements. While Matty Cash has shown notable improvement this season, manager Unai Emery is keen to add another right-back to effectively navigate the demanding fixture schedule anticipated in the latter stages of the 2024/25 campaign. In addition to Garcia, Villa are also considering other options, including Marc Pubill and Oscar Mingueza.
Despite his relatively limited experience in top-flight football, Garcia represents a promising prospect who could develop into a regular starter at Villa Park. However, the competition for his services is intensifying, particularly with Sporting CP expressing strong interest in the young talent. It is worth noting that Garcia's release clause is set to rise to £25 million if Levante secures promotion to La Liga, making a winter transfer at the current price more appealing for Aston Villa and other potential suitors. This scenario could prompt a decisive move from Villa as they evaluate their defensive needs in the approaching transfer window.
