Aston Villa do not anticipate any problems in contract negotiations with Morgan Rogers, sources have told Football Insider. The 22-year-old attacker is in line for a bumper new deal at Villa Park as a reward for his stellar form in the 2024-25 campaign, with an agreement expected soon.
Rogers has been tipped for a senior England call-up in the coming months after his breakthrough in Unai Emery's side. The attacking midfielder only joined Villa in February 2024 and is under contract until June 2029. He has started all 13 games in the Champions League and Premier League this term, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
In addition, Rogers scored three goals and provided one assist in the second half of the 2023-24 campaign, helping Aston Villa qualify for the Champions League for the first time in over 40 years. The 22-year-old came through the ranks at Manchester City but left for Middlesbrough in 2023 before making a senior appearance for the English champions.
Rogers has made six appearances for England's Under-21 side, scoring four goals and notching one assist. He is in the reckoning for a call-up to Lee Carsley's final squad during his interim reign, which is set to be announced in the coming days.
Currently, Aston Villa sit sixth in the Premier League after a 4-1 loss against Tottenham on Sunday (3 November), despite Rogers' goal giving Emery's side a first-half lead. Villa also sits top of the league phase in the Champions League with maximum points from three games.
