Jhon Duran's Future at Aston Villa in Question Amid Transfer Interest

Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran is contemplating his future as he seeks a first-choice role, with interest from PSG and previous links to Arsenal.

Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran could be poised for a departure from the club in the near future, according to sources. Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O'Rourke indicated that it would require a substantial fee for Villa to even contemplate selling the 20-year-old forward.

Duran was previously linked with a move away from Villa Park during the summer transfer window, having agreed terms with West Ham before the proposed transfer fell through. Ultimately, Duran remained at Villa Park and has made a significant impact this season, scoring eight goals in 17 appearances, with most of his goals coming from the bench.

Well-placed sources informed Football Insider that Duran aspires to be the first-choice striker at a club rather than playing a secondary role behind Ollie Watkins. Despite becoming a fan favourite at Villa Park, he is expected to evaluate his long-term future soon.

There is also interest from outside the Premier League, as Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly looking to enhance their attacking options with a move for Duran, who could be enticed by the prospect of regular Champions League football. Duran recently signed a six-year deal, extending his commitment to Villa until 2030, which strengthens the club's negotiating position should any club express interest in acquiring him.

Arsenal had been monitoring Duran's situation but have reportedly been deterred from pursuing him due to concerns regarding his attitude. Duran's behaviour off the pitch raised red flags for the Gunners' recruitment team, effectively ending their interest.

In other news, Aston Villa were denied a crucial decision in a recent match against Liverpool, highlighting ongoing discussions about officiating within the league.
